At just 19 years old, he was elected Ward Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy in Ward D of Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency, Lagos State. Between 2015 and 2019, Sunday Michael held the position of Lead Advisor to the Greater Calabar Capital City Development Authority. In May 2023, Sunday Michael was appointed as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Obudu Ranch Resort, a strategic role under the administration of Governor Bassey Otu. This appointment marked a significant milestone in Sunday’s career, placing him at the forefront of efforts to rejuvenate one of Nigeria’s most iconic tourism destinations

Since assuming the position, Sunday has been instrumental in driving the revitalization of the Obudu Ranch Resort, focusing on restoring its infrastructure, enhancing guest experiences, and promoting sustainable tourism. His leadership has already begun to yield tangible results, with the resort recently earning a place among the top 100 hotels in Nigeria that feature over 100 rooms, a recognition that underscores its renewed relevance in the hospitality sector.
Sunday’s approach blends visionary planning with collaborative engagement, working closely with government agencies, private investors, and local communities to reposition the resort as a premier destination for leisure, eco-tourism, and international travel. In October 2025, Sunday Michael was honored with a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) Honoris Causa by the prestigious London Bridge Business School.
